Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is planning a visit to the Hanford tank farms next week.
The tentative date is Wednesday, but scheduling details still are being worked out, according to his staff.
Inslee learned a week ago from Energy Secretary Steven Chu that six underground tanks at Hanford are leaking radioactive waste into the ground in central Hanford. The nuclear reservation's 177 underground tanks holding 56 million gallons of radioactive waste are arranged in groups called farms.
It will be Inslee's first public visit to the Tri-Cities and Hanford since taking office in January.
