A woman who saw a group of suspects in a van that she had reported stolen earlier in the week confronted them in the Fred Meyer parking lot in Lacey Thursday afternoon, leading to two suspects being apprehended by Lacey police.
Lacey police were dispatched to the Fred Meyer parking lot about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, after the woman confronted three people who were getting out of a van, Lacey Police Cmdr. Jim Mack said. The woman had reported the van stolen from the Red Wind Casino parking lot on Sunday, Lacey Police Lt. Phil Comstock said.
Three people exited the van and had a verbal confrontation with the woman, but fled when Lacey police arrived, Mack said. A dog unit and several officers were dispatched to locate the suspects.
A Lacey plainclothes officer apprehended one suspect after she ran through the Fred Meyer store, and then tried to exit, Mack said. A second suspect was hiding in some bushes near the Columbia Bank on Golf Course Road, he added.
A third suspect is still at large, Mack said Thursday afternoon.
Mack said the two suspects were being detained and questioned at the Lacey Police Department.
