Some 15,000 residents in the Puget Sound area are receiving a survey form by mail from the state Department of Agriculture to gain information about urban residents' use of pesticides in the region.
It's the first of three surveys planned by the agriculture department and state Department of Ecology to learn more about use of pesticides containing copper, which is toxic to fish and other marine life.
The second survey will target pesticide applicators and third will focus on cities, school districts and other public agencies. Survey results will be presented in a report to be completed by the end of the year.
