Otiona Gildon scored 30 points and had 12 rebounds to help the Bullpups rout the Conquerors.

Gonzaga Prep – which placed fifth last year – will be seeking the school’s highest state placing when they face Inglemoor today for fourth/sixth place.

After the Bullpups lost to Arlington on Thursday, coach Mike Arte decided to change the gameplan. It was a simple switch: get the ball to sophomore standout Gildon, who was 12-for-22 shooting from the field.

“At halftime they told me I had 20 points and I was like, ‘Really?’ ” Gildon said. “We wanted to make sure we played our game … after halftime (Arte) said to get it inside because they couldn’t stop me.”

The Conquerors were able to hold the Bullpups scoreless for the first five minutes of the second quarter that brought the Conks’ within a few scores. But Laura Stockton, daughter of Gonzaga and Utah Jazz legend John Stockton, started a fastbreak off a steal and nailed a pass downcourt to Gildon that ended the drought.
