Olivia Tuttle’s game-winning 3-pointer with 5.5 seconds remaining capped a 20-point fourth-quarter comeback by the Cougars, lifting them to the fourth/sixth-place game at 8 a.m. today against Lynden Christian.
The Cougars (22-2) trailed 37-17 entering the fourth quarter after a dismal first-half shooting performance that left Connell with a 27-9 lead at halftime.
Cascade Christian held Connell to one field goal in the final period as it outscored the Eagles, 25-3. With 17 seconds remaining, Connell turned the ball over with a 40-39 lead as the Cougars called timeout with 11 seconds left to set up its final play.
Tuttle scored all 11 of her points in the second half. Senior Kaycee Creech led the Puyallup school with 17 points and five rebounds.
Connell led by as many as 23 in the second half (32-9).
