PASCO -- A discussion of the Hanford vitrification plant being built to treat up to 56 million gallons of radioactive waste is planned at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Richland Section of the American Chemical Society is sponsoring the program in Room S-145 of the Columbia Basin College's Math/Science Building on its Pasco campus.
Dan McDonald of the Washington State Department of Ecology will discuss the status of tank waste treatment, the risks associated with different waste forms and the state's role in designing and building the $12.2 billion plant.
