Questions continue to surround a body found in the woods near Steamboat Island Road Thursday afternoon.
The remains of a woman were found in a remote part of the woods by Department of Natural Resources crews at 1:30 p.m. near Old Highway 101 north of Whitaker Road Northwest.
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said an autopsy Friday afternoon showed no signs of trauma.
The body likely was in the woods for a month or more before it was discovered, Warnock said.
The woman’s identity is still unknown, but Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin said detectives are following up on leads.
