Two new members of the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association’s board were introduced at the organization’s annual meeting in January. John Lantz, a past president of Lucks Food, and Jill Guernsey, an attorney and member of the Gig Harbor City Council, will join reelected board members Bill Fogarty, Nancy Stolz and Guy Hoppen.
The GHHWA is currenly in the midst of a rebranding project, with a new name and other changes to the organization expected to take place this year. The City of Gig Harbor’s Public Works Department was also presented with the GHHWA’s Community Partnership Award at the meeting, for its support of the organization’s work with a flower basket program, sidewalk improvements and other programs. The Volunteer Extraordinaire award was presented to Lee Smith and Pam Peterson-Smith.
The organization’s priorities for the coming year, other than the rebranding project, include an architectural review of downtown through the University of Washington’s Summer Storefront Program and ongoing promotion and beautification efforts.
