International Women's Day event set in Pasco

The Center for Sharing is holding an event Thursday in honor of International Women's Day.

It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Collegium Caf and community center, 3525 E. "A" St., Pasco.

Kristin Lietz of el Centro de Compartimiento, a group that prepares young women from small villages in Oaxaca, Mexico, for civic leadership, will speak during the event, a news release said.

A silent auction to raise money for her organization also is planned.

    The event will include speaker Bob Vance of URS Corp. talking about "Coal trains: the good, the bad and the truth." Vance is an engineer who has worked in design and construction of mines as well as being a train aficionado.

    The dinner is at 5:30 p.m. at Tony Roma's, 8551 W. Gage Blvd. RSVP to lwv.of.bf@gmail.com. The event is free but attendees must pay for dinner.

    Richland School Board President Rick Jansons will be the featured speaker at today's meeting of the Tri-Cities Republican Women's Club.

    The group will gather for dinner at 6 p.m. at Kennewick's Tony Roma's, 8551 W. Gage Blvd.

    The meeting will be at 7 p.m.
