Pet Easter event to take place March 16

The Key Peninsula Parks District will host its fifth annual Pet Easter Treat Hunt on March 16 at Volunteer Park, including a pet costume contest and a dog easter egg hunt.

The Key Peninsula Parks District will host its fifth annual Pet Easter Treat Hunt on March 16 at Volunteer Park, including a pet costume contest and a dog easter egg hunt.

Check-in for the free event will begin at 10 a.m. The hunt is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and the costume contest for 11:30 a.m.

Resource booths from the Human Society, The Dog House and Olympic Bird Fanciers will be featured. Participants are asked to bring a leash, a bag to collect pet treats and an optional donation of pet food for the Humane Society.

    Easter is early this year, but the weather in the Tri-Cities still should be good for kids hunting for Easter eggs outside and church-goers dressing up in new spring clothes.

    Highs today in the Tri-Cities should be about 65 degrees and there's a slight chance of showers, according to the National Weather Service.

    The weather should warm a few degrees into the weekend, and skies should clear. The high Saturday should be about 68 and the high Sunday about 71.
