Joe Lausten has been named the Gig Harbor Midday Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for January.
A senior at Gig Harbor High School, Lausten maintains a 3.8 grade-point average.
He is an officer of the school’s Interact Club and has participated in TideFest, Harbor Hounds, Polio Car Wash, Etta bracelet fundraiser and the Basket Brigade.
Lausten also is a Washington Aerospace Scholar, and his senior project is tutoring freshmen.
Outside of the classroom, Lausten plays goalkeeper for Gig Harbor varsity soccer team and Westound FC.
