State senator proposes amendment to keep coal out of SB 5805 (Politics Blog)

State Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-44th, has proposed an amendment to his SB 5805 in an attempt to allay concerns that the bill could help to clear the regulatory path for Gateway Pacific Terminal and other proposed coal shipping facilities.

    WALLA WALLA -- The bond proposal to modernize Walla Walla High School received 53 percent approval Tuesday night, failing to meet the required 60 percent supermajority needed to pass.

    The Walla Walla School Board agreed this fall to seek a $48 million bond to update facilities at Walla Walla High School, primarily academic spaces, but also some for career and technical education, the arts and athletics.
