Gig Harbor High School Theater Department presents Irving Berlin’s musical, Annie Get Your Gun. The musical is a Wild West show-within-a-show narrating the story of Annie Oakley and her rival/beau, Frank Butler. The sardonic, feisty Oakley, a backwoods sharpshooter, is picked up by Buffalo Bill’s traveling variety act and quickly outshoots Butler, the current star attraction. Annie and Frank vie for one another’s hearts and the title of best shot in the land.

Navigation in the Classroom and On Board

This hands-on course starts in the boatyard classroom with the basics of navigation, using both paper charts and electronic charting systems. You'll also learn about the Vessel Traffic System (VTS), and AIS (Automatic Identification System). The class finishes in the state-of-the-art wheelhouse of a 60' vessel while underway - where you will see the concepts of the class applied with modern electronic charting systems. Lunch included. Children under 14 to be accompanied by a paying adult.

Cheryl Samuel, artist and author of The Ravens Tail and The Chilkat Dancing Blanket presents The Ravenstail Revival, the story of a lost art found again and the journey Cheryl has taken bringing the art form back to the people who once wove it. This is a special event because the Ravenstail Robes taking a year or more to weave are going to be danced by the Haan Dei I Jin Dancers (Haida) and the Tsimshian Haayuuk Dancers. This event is sponsored by Two Waters Arts Alliance.

The League of Women Voters' Gig Harbor unit will meet from 2 to 4 p.m., March 9, 2013, at Harbor History Museum, 4121 Harborview Drive, in Gig Harbor. The agenda includes Open Records and public meetings, as well as Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (S.L.A.P.P.), which try to discourage critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense.
