Raiders capture eighth place at NWAACC tourney

Not even the sting of an eighth place finish at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges men's basketball tournament could totally dampen the spirits of Pierce Raiders men's basketball head coach Bill Mendelson.

The Raiders went 2-2 at the NWAACC tourney from March 2 through March 4 in Kennewick; registering victories against Southwest Oregon and Yakima while suffering losses against Everett and Centralia.

"We set the school record for wins with 25. The previous record was 23 wins," Mendelson said. "Going 25-6 shows the body of work our team put together. The kids played their hearts out."
