Berani, the Malayan tiger cub who was critically ill last week, was back at play in his exhibit Friday at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

Berani is expected to remain on exhibit all weekend, provided he continues to feel well, zoo officials said.

The cub underwent emergency surgery Feb. 25 after zookeepers noticed he didn’t feel well. Veterinarians said his illness was likely enterotoxemia, which are toxins caused by bacteria creating an infection.

Berani will be on exhibit this weekend from 9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Zoo officials said they are still trying to determine what caused the infection.

Berani was released from the animal hospital last Friday and returned to his enclosure.
