Officers responding to a single-car crash Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Hummel Drive and Camas Street in Boise believe a self-inflicted gunshot wound caused the driver to lose control, drive through a yard in the neighborhood and crash into a fence.
The driver died at the scene.
Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said she didn't know whether the driver was a man or woman.
Because officers believe the incident was a suicide, they refused to release further details.
