Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival
WHAT: This will be the seventh annual clam festival and seafood extravaganza, a celebration of coastal life. Some of the top chefs from area restaurants bring their best clam chowder and entrees for a chance to win “The Best of the North Beach.” There also will be vendors, food booths, music and more.
WHEN: March 23-24.
WHERE: 120 W. Chance A La Mer Ave., Ocean Shores.
HIGHLIGHTS: There will be a pancake breakfast ($5 a person), artisan marketplace, children’s activities, live entertainment, dancing, scavenger hunt, cultural exhibits and the decorated clam gun and shovel auction.
COOKING EVENTS: There will be an amateur chowder cook-off at 11 a.m. March 23, with chefs creating clam entrees at 1 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. will be the professional chowder cook-off. On March 24, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. there will be cooking demonstrations. At 11 a.m. the same day will be the junior chowder cook-off. At 2 p.m. will be the professional chefs seafood cooking competition.
DIG YOUR OWN: The next razor clam dig closest to the festival dates is scheduled for March 28-31 at various beaches. The opening, which will be the first on morning tides, is tentatively scheduled for March 28, 7:57 a.m. low tide, Twin Harbors; March 29: 8:40 a.m., Twin Harbors, Long Beach, Copalis and Mocrocks; March 30, 9:26 a.m., Twin Harbors, Long Beach, Copalis and Mocrocks; and March 31, 10:16 a.m., Twin Harbors.
Admission: $3, children 12 and younger get in free; $5 for two-day pass. $1 for individual samples at restaurant booths.
