Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was involved in an incident Saturday night around 11:30 at 22nd Ave. NE and Northeast Ravenna in Seattle.
Seferian-Jenkins’ name was run by police during a traffic stop and it is unclear whether he was the passenger or driver.
There is no police report on the incident as of Sunday afternoon.
Here is the statement from University of Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian on the incident: “We are aware of an incident that occurred Saturday evening involving Austin Seferian-Jenkins. We are taking the matter very seriously. Austin made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington. He will be disciplined internally in accordance with team and departmental policies. We will continue to support Austin throughout this process, while also holding him accountable and responsible for his actions.”
The 6-foot-6, 251-pound sophomore from Gig Harbor holds almost every tight end record at the University of Washington after catching 69 passes for 852 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
Seferian-Jenkins holds the school tight end records for receiving yards in a season and career, touchdown receptions and receptions in a season and a career.
At the start of spring practice this season, he told reporters how he wants to become the most complete tight end in the country during his junior season.
