Herald publisher set to speak at April 2 meeting

Tri-City Herald President and Publisher Gregg McConnell will be the keynote speaker at the American Society for Quality's April 2 meeting.

He will discuss the business of journalism, the transformation of the newspaper industry and the struggle to differentiate journalism from news.

He will share some of the key challenges being addressed and how quality plays a role in the industry's future.

The meeting will be O'Callahan's/Shilo Inn in Richland. Check-in and networking starts at 5:30 p.m. The buffet dinner at 6 p.m. and the presentation at 6:45 p.m.

Cost is $17 for ASQ members, $20 for non-members, or $5 for the presentation only.

    The meeting will begin at Feb. 7 at Tri-Tech Skills Center, 5929 W. Metaline Ave., Kennewick.

  • Finley School Board workshop this weekend

    The Finley School Board plans to meet for a board workshop Saturday morning.

    The board will discuss its annual agenda as well as the contract renewal for Superintendent Lance Hahn.

    The public meeting is 8 a.m. to noon at the district office, 224606 E. Game Farm Road.
