Brown, Klippert to hold town hall meetings

Sen. Sharon Brown and Rep. Brad Klippert, both Kennewick Republicans, will play host to a series of town hall meetings Saturday to answer questions from 8th District constituents about the current state legislative session.

The lawmakers will provide a brief overview of the issues in this year's session before taking audience comments and questions.

The meeting schedule:

w 8:30 a.m., City Council Chambers, Richland City Hall, 505 Swift Blvd.;

w 10 a.m., West Richland Library, 3803 W. Van Giesen St.;

w 1 p.m., City Council Chambers, Kennewick City Hall, 210 W. Sixth Ave.

    BELLINGHAM - The city's Design Review Board will hold a public meeting on a proposed commercial and residential building at 111 W. Chestnut St., the site of the Towner Press Building.

    Dave Hovde of Bellingham and partners Harvey and Judith Flax propose 20 residential units in a three-story building, adjacent to the developers' just-completed Chestnut Flats building.

    The meeting will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in City Hall, 210 Lottie St. Comments on the project also may be submitted via email before the meeting at bsmart@cob.org.

  • Blaine meeting will shape state rail plan

    BLAINE - The public is invited to a discussion on the state's long-term rail plan on Thursday, May 30.

    The three-hour meeting will focus on Amtrak service and international coordination of rail systems. Coal trains are a piece of the puzzle that must be accounted for in the plan, but Thursday's meeting is not a venue to debate the environmental impacts of coal, Blaine Public Works Director Ravyn Whitewolf said.

    The meeting, which includes small-group work sessions for attendees, starts at 9 a.m. and takes place at Blaine City Hall, 435 Martin St.
