On the same day they officially welcomed in Percy Harvin, the Seattle Seahawks said goodbye to Leon Washington, releasing the Pro Bowl return man on Tuesday.

Washington led the NFC with an average of 29.0 yards per kick return this past season in earning his second career Pro Bowl nod, but the seven-year veteran was deemed expendable when the Seahawks acquired the dynamic Harvin in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for a package of draft picks that included this year's first-rounder.

The 30-year-old Washington also went to the Pro Bowl in 2010, his first campaign in Seattle after spending his first four years in the league with the New York Jets. He returned three kicks for touchdowns that season and owns eight for his career, tied for the most in NFL history.

Washington owns a career average of 25.9 yards per kick return and 9.9 yards per punt runback, while Harvin has averaged 27.9 yards on 114 career kick returns and has a league-high five touchdowns in that category since entering the NFL in 2009.
