Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 22-year-old Edgewood man after finding an explosive device, drugs and stolen weapons in his home.
He pleaded not guilty Monday to possessing an explosive device, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was ordered jailed in lieu of $50,000.
Edgewood police searched the man’s home Friday and found heroin, four rifles, a shotgun, 12 pills used to treat anxiety and an explosive device, according to charging papers. Two of the guns were allegedly stolen.
A bomb squad was called to safely detonate the device.
Police also arrested a 35-year-old woman living in a shed on the property because of the items found there. She has been charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Both are convicted felons, prosecutors said, and face further charges.
