F eb. 27 — A truck collided with a tree on Feb. 26, and a 150-gallon propane tank was dislodged in the process. The tow company did not recover the tank when they removed the vehicle, prompting a 9-1-1 call about 18 hours later for firefighters to investigate. Crews discovered the tank was lying off the road. It was not leaking propane. Firefighters contacted two companies that denied towing the vehicle. The matter was turned over to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, since that agency dispatched the contracted tow company for the original call.
