Top Food & Drugs parent company announced this morning that it will close the Federal Way store in four-six weeks.
Choosing to close this location is difficult knowing the impact it will have on our committed employees and loyal customers, said John Turley, co-President and Senior Vice-President of Operations at Bellingham-based Haggen Inc., in a news release.
The Federal Way store, at 31515 20th Ave. S., has 48 employees, according to the release. Haggen said it is working with the assistance of the UFCW Local 21 and Bakers Local 9 unions to place those employees at other Haggen stores.
Within less than a mile of the Federal Way store are five other grocery options, including an Albertsons and a Safeway.
Haggen is the largest independent grocer based in Washington state. It operates 27 supermarkets in Washington and Oregon under the Top Food and Haggen Northwest Fresh names.
