Cabela's hosts spring event March 16-17

The festivities will be Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cabela's and local conservation and sporting organizations are hosting a variety of activities for the whole family, including free seminars, meet and greets with local groups, live music, two Boise food trucks and more.

Cabela's will offer a full schedule of free workshops and in-store demonstrations including:

• Turkey Calling 101 & 201

• Bear Hunting

• Glassing for Big Game

• Introduction to Archery Sports

• Metal Detecting

• Sonar/GPS Class

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

Brundage offers big air with a soft landing

Skiers and snowboarders can get some high-flying thrills without worrying about sticking the landing. The U.S. Airbag Tour's "Jump On It" event comes to Brundage Mountain on Friday through Sunday, March 22-24.

A 50-foot square airbag will be in front of the jump so you can safely land after catching big (or small) air.

Sun Valley hosts spring break SolFest

The event runs Friday through Sunday, March 22-24 in Sun Valley. The resort offers a variety of free events along with a special lift ticket offer: $99 for three days for college students with ID.

• March 22: 511 Rail Jam, 7 to 11 p.m. An urban ski and snowboard contest in Downtown Ketchum with music by DJ Train.Æ March 23: "A.P.R.E.S., The Game" at 9 a.m. Free-to-enter scavenger hunt that, in the spirit of the game G.N.A.R., mixes costumes with prescribed antics, feats of strength and daring to collect points in order to win prizes. SolFest starts at 7 p.m. on Main Street with music by DJ Dock Rock and Pool Party.

Ski for a buck at Tamarack March 24

Brundage and Bogus pass holders can get a lift ticket for only $1, and those pass holders can also add a Tamarack season pass for 2013-14 for $150.

Also, skiers and boarders who don't have a current Tamarack pass can buy one for $199 from March 24-31.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Fatbike race at Jug Mountain Ranch

The Snowy 45 is McCall's first-ever fatbike relay race starting at 10 a.m., Sunday, March 17 at Jug Mountain Ranch east of Lake Fork.

The race will be on a 1-mile groomed Nordic ski trail, and four-person teams will ride 45 laps.

Entry fee is $30 per racer. Every rider must ride at least one lap, and no rider can rider more than two laps in a row. All racers must register in advance by calling Gravity Sports at 634-8530. For more details, go to snowy45.com.
