SANTOS UP NEXT

Sounders FC will meet Santos Laguna of Mexico in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals next month.

Santos advanced Wednesday with a 3-0 win at home over Houston, giving it a 3-1 aggregate win. Santos’ goals came from Juan Pablo Rodriguez, Herculez Gomez and Marc Crosas.

The Sounders advanced 3-2 on aggregate after a 3-1 home victory Tuesday over Tigres UANL.

The series will begin between April 2-4 at CenturyLink Field and resolve April 9-11 at Estadio Corona in Torreon.

The Sounders lost to Santos in the quarterfinals last season, with the Liga MX club advancing, 7-3, on aggregate.

US WINS ALGARVE CUP

Alex Morgan scored twice to lead the United States women past Germany, 2-0, in Faro, Portugal, to win the Algarve Cup for a ninth time.

Morgan started the scoring in the 13th minute. Sydney Leroux sent a cross that Germany central defender Josephine Henning tried to head clear. But the ball fell to Morgan just inside the area and she scored with her left foot.

Morgan connected again 12 minutes later.
