Jarred DuBois scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half, Jordan Loveridge added 15 points and Utah opened the Pacific-12 Conference tournament with a 69-66 win over short-handed Southern California on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
Utah (14-17) hounded USC defensively in the first half to earn a spot in today’s quarterfinals against second-seeded California.
USC (14-18) gave the Utes a run despite playing without suspended players Dewayne Dedmon and James Blasczyk.
Colorado 74, Oregon State 68: Spencer Dinwiddie scored 20 points and the Golden Buffaloes (21-10) picked up a much-needed win at the Pac-12 tournament, holding off the Beavers (14-18) in the first of what they hope to be “four wins in four rounds,” a repeat of last year, when they won the tournament.
Xavier Johnson had 16 points and Andre Roberson 12 for the fifth-seeded Buffaloes, who will meet No. 4 seed Arizona in today’s quarterfinals.
Arizona State 89, Stanford 88 (OT): Jahii Carson scored five of his 34 points in overtime to help the Sun Devils (21-11) hold off the Cardinal (18-14). Carson’s 34 points were the most by a freshman in tournament history. ASU plays No. 21 UCLA today.
