Richland High group offering scholarships

Richland High School’s Club 40 is offering two $1,000 scholarships to the school’s graduating seniors and encourages all to apply.

Richland High School’s Club 40 is offering two $1,000 scholarships to the school’s graduating seniors and encourages all to apply.

The scholarships are in honor of Ray Conley and Don Richey.

Applications are available at the high school. Completed applications will be evaluated based on financial need, extracurricular activities, academic achievement and service or work done outside of school.

Applications are due with a transcript to Richland High’s scholarship coordinator by 3 p.m. April 29.

    The following students were awarded 2013 association scholarships: Brenda Rodri-guez, a senior at Connell High School, who plans to attend Washington State University to become an elementary teacher. She's interested in studying psychology and Spanish. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

    Another $1,000 scholarship will go to Stephanie Crowthers, Connell High's valedictorian. She plans to attend Brigham Young University-Idaho to major in elementary education and minor in music.

  • Pasco to hold Delta High information session

    Eighth-graders and their parents in the Pasco School District are invited to an information session about Delta High School at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the district's administrative offices, 1215 W. Lewis St.

    Delta High is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, school jointly operated by the Pasco, Kennewick and Richland school districts. The school is in Richland.

    Students who will be freshmen next year and live in the district may apply. Applications will be available at the meeting and must be returned by Feb. 27. The district's share of students will be determined by random lottery.

  • 'Pop-up museum' offers look at Hanford Reach

    RICHLAND -- The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center's "pop-up museum" exhibit at the Richland Public Library continues today.

    It features student-designed school projects based on themes of the Reach, including metal animal sculptures by students at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick.

    The exhibit also includes entries from the Reach's "Postcards from the Reach" student photography contest.
