Jarred DuBois scored 21 points and hit a tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation, Jordan Loveridge scored eight of his 20 points in overtime, and Utah upset second-seeded California, 79-69, in the Pacific-12 tournament quarterfinals Thursday night in Las Vegas.
Utah (15-17) knocked off top-seeded Washington in last year’s tournament and took down No. 2 this year by hitting some big shots down the stretch.
The 10th-seeded Utes trailed 59-56 in regulation after Cal’s Allen Crabbe hit two free throws, but Utah worked the ball around to DuBois, who hit a contested 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining to tie the game. Utah dominated overtime and will move on to face the Washington-Oregon winner in tonight’s semifinals.
No. 18 Arizona 79, Colorado 69: Nick Johnson scored 18 points and hit a contested shot with 34 seconds to play, helping No. 18 Arizona beat Colorado in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals.
Mark Lyons had 14 points and Solomon Hill 13 for Arizona (25-6), which moves on to face No. 21 UCLA in today’s semifinals.
Spencer Dinwiddie led fifth-seeded Colorado (21-11) with 18 points and Andre Roberson added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
NO. 21 UCLA 80, Arizona State 75: Shabazz Muhammad scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, Travis Wear hit a jumper with 11 seconds to go and UCLA rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Arizona State in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 tournament.
Jahii Carson had 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds for No. 9 seed Arizona State (21-12).
No. 4 Louisville 74, Villanova 55: Russ Smith scored 28 points in a bittersweet homecoming, leading No. 4 Louisville into the Big East tournament semifinals with a victory over the Wildcats in New York only hours after the death of his esteemed high school coach.
The defending champion Cardinals (27-5) harassed Villanova into 25 turnovers that led to 27 points.
Luke Hancock added 12 points off the bench for second-seeded Louisville (20-13), which has won eight straight — seven by at least 14 points. Seattle’s Peyton Siva, the tournament MVP last year, scored 10.
No. 5 Georgetown 62, Cincinnati 43: Otto Porter Jr. scored 18 points and the fifth-ranked Hoyas advanced to the Big East tournament semifinals by pulling away from Cincinnati. Markel Starks had 14 points and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera added 13 off the bench, including a tiebreaking 3-pointer that sparked a game-turning run for the top-seeded Hoyas (25-5).
JaQuon Parker had 12 points for Cincinnati, which lost to Louisville in last year’s Big East final.
No. 6 Michigan 83, Penn State 66: Trey Burke scored 21 points and the sixth-ranked Wolverines beat the Nittany Lions in the first round of the Big Ten tournament in Chicago, avenging a shocking loss during the regular season. Michigan’s Tim Hardaway Jr. and Nik Stauskas each had 15 points for the Wolverines (26-6), who will play fourth-seeded Wisconsin in the quarterfinals today.
No. 7 Kansas 91, Texas Tech 63: Ben McLemore scored 24 points and the top-seeded, hot-shooting, Jayhawks rolled to a rout of Texas Tech at the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, Mo. Anrio Adams had a career-high 11 points as the Jayhawks (27-5) shot 66 percent from the field (31 of 47), the best mark by any team in a Big 12 tournament game, and finished 9 of 18 from beyond the arc.

Division II tournament: The Western Washington men, defending NCAA Division II champions, will be host and No. 1 seed for the Western Regional this weekend. The Vikings (27-2) will meet Chaminade (20-9) at 7:30 p.m. today.
Seattle Pacific (25-3), which upset WWU, 72-70, last weekend at Saint Martin’s University in the GNAC tournament title game, will meet Grand Canyon (23-7) at noon today in Bellingham. Semifinals of the eight-team regional are Monday, with the championship game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The regional winner will advance to the Elite Eight, March 28-30, in Louisville, Ky.
Cal Poly 64, UC Davis 41: Dylan Royer made all five of his 3-point attempts, finishing with 17 points, and Cal Poly pulled away in the second half to beat UC Davis in the Big West Conference tournament quarterfinals in Anaheim, Calif.
Ball State parts ways with coach: Ball State has fired men’s coach Billy Taylor less than 24 hours after losing to Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference tournament. This season, the Cardinals were 15-15, including 8-8 in conference play. Taylor went 84-99 in six seasons.
