The arrest of Roberto Guiller Escobedo, who worked at the Idaho State Correctional Institution, a men's prison, came as a result of an investigation by the Idaho Department of Correction's Office of Professional Standards.
The investigation was later turned over to the Ada County Sheriff's Office, a standard practice for all felony criminal investigations involving the Correction Department.
Spokesman Jeff Ray declined to comment on how many prisoners Escobedo is accused of having sexual contact with. Also unclear is whether Escobedo is accused of forcing sex with prisoners or coercing them.
The charge of sexual contact with a prisoner is a felony. Escobedo worked at the Correction Department from June 7, 2010 to Jan. 23, 2013.
