Kindergarten registration is coming up for families in many of Whatcom County's school districts.
Families with children who will turn 5 by Sept. 1 are eligible to start kindergarten this fall.
Here's a list of registration dates at districts throughout the county;
-- Lynden School District: Families can register their children from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21, at their neighborhood elementary school, either Fisher, Isom or Bernice Vossbeck. A record of immunizations will be confirmed before the first day of school.
-- Bellingham School District: Registration runs through May 1. Families can register at their nearest elementary school and must bring the child's birth certificate, proof of residency and immunization records. Kindergarten open houses and tours begin in early May. More information about Bellingham's kindergarten classes is available online at bellinghamschools.org.
-- Meridian School District: Registration is open at Irene Reither Primary School. Families can get kindergarten paperwork online at meridian.wednet.edu by clicking on the "Kindergarten 2013-14" link under the Irene Reither Primary School tab. Families can fill out the paperwork and bring it to Irene Reither from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Children must be 5 by Aug. 31 to enroll.
-- Mount Baker School District: Registration will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. over three days: April 16 at Kendall Elementary, April 17 at Harmony and April 18 at Acme. Families will need their child's immunization records and documents with legal names and birthdates. Children are welcome, as the teacher has activities planned.
-- Nooksack Valley School District: Registration will run from 12:30 to 6 p.m. over three days: April 22 at Everson Elementary, April 23 at Sumas and April 24 at Nooksack. Children must turn 5 by Aug. 31, and parents must bring immunization records and a copy of the child's birth certificate to register.
Registration in Blaine and Ferndale took place earlier in March.
