A meeting about sustainable communities is today in Richland.
The public is welcome to attend the event being organized by the League of Women Voters of Benton & Franklin Counties.
It starts at 11: 30 a.m. at Rosy's Diner, 404 Bradley Blvd. Lunch is not provided, but attendees can order from the restaurant's menu.
Sustainable communities are planned, built or modified to promote sustainable living, which can relate to equality, water, transportation, energy, waste and materials.
They can lead to a more efficient use of revenue and taxes, and attract businesses and residents because of a higher quality of life, said a League of Women Voters news release.
For the past three years, members have been interviewing local officials about the topic.
