Future goals topic of River's Edge event

Richland's River's Edge High School will have its fourth annual Flying To Your Future event at the Richland Public Library today to help students set their future goals.

The event is offered through the school's Independent Learning Program, and there will be breakout sessions with community leaders, apprenticeship program representatives, the armed forces and higher education, according to a release from the Richland School District.

The keynote speaker will be Doug Crandall, a West Point graduate and instructor and former leader at Amazon.com. He is a nationally known speaker on leadership.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Alben is the author of Analog Days: How Technology Rewrote Our Future. He will talk about the "analog" and "digital" cultures in the United States, and whether the analog culture can survive in a digital age.

  • Richland students' art to be on exhibit at WSU

    The Richland School District's annual Student Art Exhibition will feature work from elementary, middle and high school students.

    The exhibit will open at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Washington State University Tri-Cities' art center, 2770 Crimson Way, Richland.

    There will be a public reception from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

  • Family Activity Night planned in W. Richland

    WEST RICHLAND -- Tapteal Elementary School will play host to a Family Activity Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 705 N. 62nd Ave., West Richland.

    Parents of future kindergarten and preschool students will have the opportunity to learn about programs, meet teachers, and take part in math and science activities. Student artwork will be displayed.
