Scoreboard update: Peninsula tennis sweeps Lakes

Due to space constraints in Wednesday's print issue, we had to trim a pretty significant chunk of our Scoreboard feature, which, as you can imagine from the sheer volume of spring sports action last week, was pretty hefty.

Below, you can check out the standings through Monday's games in baseball, fastpitch and soccer, as well as results from all contests in the Class 4A Narrows League and Class 3A South Puget Sound League since March 11.

Monday saw some limited action from local teams, and here's the highlights:

FASTPITCH: Peninsula scored twice in the top of the seventh to pull out a 5-3 win at South Kitsap. Aspen Ison struck out six hitters, and the Seahawks got key offensive efforts from Tyler Stolz, Alaina Morgan and Kristin Jensen to move to 2-0.

GIRLS TENNIS: You'll be able to read my preview article on the Gig Harbor and Peninsula tennis teams in Wednesday's edition, and a key athlete in that piece is Peninsula freshman Allie Barry, who won easily in her first varsity match as the Seahawks beat the Lakes Lancers 5-0. No. 2 single Emily Ausboe had no trouble, and neither did the No. 1 doubles duo of Samantha Lee and Marie Dennis.

Here's a look at the events I'll be covering this week for our March 27 issue...

Tuesday: Girls water polo, Gig Harbor at Peninsula, 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday: Fastpitch, Stadium at Gig Harbor, 4:15 p.m. (live updates on Twitter, @gateway_neil)

Thursday: Boys soccer, Peninsula at South Kitsap, 7 p.m. (live updates on Twitter, @gateway_neil)
