Strong winds predicted for Tri-Cities Wednesday evening

Wind gusts of up to 55 mph are predicted Wednesday evening in the Tri-Cities by the National Weather Service.

The wind is expected to pick up after noon with sustained speeds of 11 to 21 mph building to 23 to 33 mph.

Gusts in the afternoon could be as high as 48 mph.

In the evening sustained wind speeds could build to 33 to 38 mph with gusts as high as 55 mph.

After 9 p.m., wind speeds should decrease to 22 to 27 mph.

Thursday also should be breezy.
