A woman accused of stealing from one employer to pay off restitution in another theft case pleaded not guilty this morning to numerous felony charges.

Jeannette Kay Sturtz of Bonney Lake was released on her own recognizance by Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner Meagan Foley. Sturtz, 57, is charged with one count of first-degree theft and 11 counts of forgery.

Prosecutors contend that from September 2010 to September 2011 she embezzled more than $25,000 from a landscaping company that employed her as a financial controller. She might have used some of the money to pay off court-ordered restitution to a homeowners’ association she admitted stealing from in 2010, prosecutors said.
