A man who asked to see surveillance footage of a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a teenage girl is not a suspect, Puyallup police said today.
Police released the man’s photograph Tuesday in an attempt to identify him, believing he may have information about the March 16 crash that injured a 16-year-old girl as she walked in a marked crosswalk in the 600 block of West Stewart Avenue.
The man grabbed police attention when he walked into the Golden Rule Grocery Store and asked to see their surveillance footage of the crash while asking questions about whether their cameras could capture license plate numbers of cars passing by outside.
“This subject has cooperated and appears unrelated to the hit and run incident,” Capt. Scott Engle said.
The driver’s identity remains unknown. The girl underwent surgery this week and remains in the hospital.
