The state will monitor a Puyallup marriage counselor for four years after charging her with providing false information about her credentials and breaking confidentiality with patients.
Heidi Halsey must also pay a $2,500 fine, according to an agreement with the Department of Health.
Halseys wrongdoings date back to August 2008 when she began treating a 12-year-old boy for depression and anxiety. The state contends she failed to obtain consent from both parents for treatment, which is required, and did not abide by the terms of the court-ordered parenting plan.
However, once the boy turned 13 and was able to give his own consent for treatment, Halsey asked both parents to sign a consent form, causing great strife between the divorced parents.
