Richland church offers 'The Crucifixion' cantata

The choir of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Richland will present John Stainer's The Crucifixion, a choral meditation of the passion account, at 7 p.m. Friday. The free performance is an extended Passiontide cantata for chorus, organ, tenor and bass soloists.

Donations will be accepted.

The church is at 1322 Kimball Ave., Richland.

  • Richland music students named overall winners in Young Artists Competition

    Two Richland music students were named the overall winners at the recent Young Artists Competition sponsored by the Mid-Columbia Symphony.

    Violinist Diana Wang, a ninth grader at Hanford High, and pianist Justin James Chua, a 10th grader at Richland High, will perform with the symphony at its spring concert in May.

    The competition was held in January at Central United Protestant Church in Richland. This year's candidates performed in flute, piano and strings categories.

  • Conference scheduled on spiritual disciplines

    Richland Lutheran Church is offering a one-day Renovare Essentials Conference on April 20.

    The conference will present a vision and practical strategy for spiritual growth based on the spiritual practices of Jesus Christ and the church over the centuries.

    Speakers are Kai Nielsen, a Lutheran pastor from Ohio, and Siang-Yang Tan a professor of Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary.

  • WSU professor to speak on African Reformation

    An assistant history professor from Washington State University's Pullman campus will give a free presentation at WSU Tri-Cities on Monday on the African Reformation movement.

    Joel E. Tishken will go over the spread of Catholicism and forms of Protestantism in most of Africa and how challenges by Africans to some aspects of those religions created the new churches of the African Reformation.

    The 40-minute lecture is at noon in the Richland campus' East Building auditorium, 2710 Crimson Way.
