Friends of a man fatally shot outside an Auburn bar March 31 canceled a fundraiser to support his family after receiving threats.
The fitness boot camp to help support the two children of Nicholas Lindsay, called Fit for Nick, was scheduled for Saturday.
The Facebook invite page explained why the event was canceled: There is a potential threat of retaliation (so) we have to cancel the event tomorrow. We cannot risk putting people in danger. The point of this peaceful event was to raise money for Nicholas Lindsays family during these trying times.
Police are investigating the shooting, which happened about closing time outside The Sports Page tavern.
We have heard just through social media that there might be some retaliation, Auburn police Cmdr. Mike Hirman said. I think retaliation is very real, and maybe private events might be the way to go.
Antuan Greer and Lorenzo Duncan also were killed in the shooting.
A fourth man who was shot remains at Harborview Medical Center. Police said he was a person of interest and not a suspect.
