Car in Lacey rape, robbery recovered; suspect still at large

April 21, 2013

Police are continuing to look for a man who raped and robbed a 23-year-old Lacey woman Friday night after her stolen car was found abandoned in a parking lot.

The woman was home alone in the 8200 block of Union Mills Road Southeast and was confronted by a man wielding a knife when she tried to let her barking dog outside, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

The man forced his way into the woman's home and sexually assaulted her. He then took her cash and keys to her white 1999 Volkswagen Jetta.

The car was found in a parking lot on near Martin Way and Hoh Street Northeast, according to Lt. Greg Elwin. The car was impounded and will be processed by a forensics team.

The man is described as a skinny white male about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants with his face covered by a red handkerchief or bandanna.

No arrests have been made as detectives continue to follow leads, Elwin said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Thurston County Sheriff's Office at 360-704-2740 or Olympia/Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222.
