Tacoma police have arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of killing his girlfriends 3-year-old son. The man was booked into Pierce County Jail Wednesday morning on suspicion of homicide by abuse. He is expected to be charged Thursday.
The boy has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiners Officer as 3-year-old Terric Davis of Tacoma. He died from blunt force injuries to his head and abdomen, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the office.
The boys 23-year-old mother brought him to Mary Bridge Childrens Hospital about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday because the child was having trouble breathing.
Doctors noticed signs of abuse and notified police, who went to the couples home in the 7600 block of Pacific Avenue and arrested the man.
The boy died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
A 2-year-old girl was removed from the home and placed into protective custody.
The Medical Examiners Office is performing an autopsy today.
