Homeless man stabbed in Lakewood, expected to survive

May 22, 2013

A 40-year-old homeless man was stabbed late Monday in Lakewood during an argument with another transient, police said Tuesday.

No arrest was made, but police Lt. Chris Lawler said detectives know who the suspect is and were searching for him.

“We believe they both were intoxicated,” Lawler said.

The stabbing happened about 11:45 p.m. on Pacific Highway.

A woman whose truck broke down in the area was talking to the victim when he suddenly collapsed. She called 911.

The victim, who suffered a single stab wound, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was listed in serious condition Tuesday and was expected to survive.

Police used a dog to search the area but were unable to find the suspect Monday night.

It was unknown what the two men argued about.
