More than 500 people attended Saturday night’s celebration of the first anniversary of the LeMay – America’s Car Museum.
The event also raised more than $300,000 for future activities, organizers said Monday.
“Now that year one is history, our overarching goal is to maintain momentum and continue to grow and evolve as an attraction,” said museum President and CEO David Madeira. “And if the excitement at this gala is an indicator, we’re off to a sensational start. We raised more than $300,000, which is vital to our future, because philanthropy helps us fund key programs and exhibits.”
In its first year the museum had more than 250,000 visitors from 50 states and 26 countries.
The museum, located adjacent to the Tacoma Dome and Interstate 5, opened June 2, 2012.Staff report
