Driver escapes from burning car at 60 mph near Sea-Tac

June 6, 2013

The Washington State Patrol says a driver jumped out of a burning car going 60 mph early Wednesday on Highway 518 near Sea-Tac Airport.

Trooper Dennis Tardiff said it’s unknown why the driver decided to jump rather than pull over. Surprisingly, his worst injury was a broken ankle.

The burning car continued for about half a mile and ran off the highway into brush and trees. It was gutted by flames.

The accident at 1:42 a.m. blocked eastbound lanes.
