Point Robinson Park will be the site for the eighth annual Low Tide Celebration on June 23. The free, family oriented event blends local history and education in a natural setting.
The event will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Point Robinson Light Station, 3700 SW Point Robinson Road, on Maury Island.
Visitors will be able to explore the beach when a low tide of -3.7 feet takes place around 11:30 a.m. Vashon beach naturalists will help visitors explore the exposed tidepools while using proper beach etiquette, according to a release from Sustainable Tourism On Vashon. You also can take a guided walk, observing the native shoreline plants and birds that live in the area.
The event includes tours of the operating Point Robinson Lighthouse and stories of its history.
A free shuttle bus will run along Luana Beach Road and Point Robinson Road to pick up and transport people between their parked cars and the festivities. Refreshments will be sold at the event as well.Staff report
