A 22-year-old Tacoma man was sentenced Friday to 37 years in prison after being convicted in the shooting death of his friend, whose body he later dumped in a garbage bin.

A Pierce County jury in April convicted Anthony Tyrone Clark of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors asked for a sentence of 40 years. Defense attorneys wanted a sentence of 33 years, saying Clark has a low IQ and learning disabilities that impaired his judgment the day of the killing.
