A police standoff lasted almost four hours in Lakewood on Sunday and ended in a no-decision. The man officers were seeking was gone.
Lakewood Police were searching for a 50-year-old man at a home in the 8600 block of Custer Road Southwest. The man stabbed an acquaintance earlier in the afternoon, police spokesman Steve Mauer said. The stabbing victim survived, and was expected to recover, Mauer added.
The News Tribune is not naming the man because he has not been charged with a crime. Past court records show a history of domestic disputes at the address involving several individuals, including the man police are seeking.
The police presence blocked traffic in the area for several hours.
Teams of searchers entered a shed, trailer and the main home on the property. They didn’t find the man.
“SWAT ended up breaching and going into the house, searched a shed and a trailer and an RV,” Mauer said. “Our suspect was not there.”
By late evening, police had a search warrant. After clearing the active scene, they went back for a thorough look at the property and the home.
By 9:45 p.m., Mauer said police would seek the man firstname.lastname@example.org
