Three people were injured shortly after midnight Monday when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 510 and Yelm Highway SE, according to a press release from Washington State Patrol.
According to the release:
Terry Pomeroy, 37, of Yelm, was driving a white 2001 Ford Crown Victoria northbound on Yelm Highway approaching the intersection at State Route 510, when he failed to stop at the stop sign, and hit a black 2004 Hyundai Sonata traveling east on State Highway 510.
The driver of the Sonata was Brian Kunkel, 33, of Great Falls, Montana.
Pomeroy was injured and transported to St. Peter Hospital, in Olympia, and his car was totalled. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Kunkel was not injured but two passengers, Ronald Kunkel, 63, and Mary Kunkel, 58, were injured and both were taken to St .Peter Hospital, in Olympia. His vehicle was also totalled. The driver and both passengers in the Hyundai were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the crash was failure to stop, according to the State Patrol release, and charges are pending.
