Teen in custody after fatal Renton stabbing

— A 16-year-old male is in police custody following a fatal stabbing in Renton early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of a fight in the 200 block of S.W. 5th Place around 1:15 a.m., where they found a 22-year-old man with two stab wounds to his stomach.

Witnesses told officers that the victim and his brothers had tried to confront the teen, who had attempted to get into their parked car.

Officers were told a fight broke out between the teen and the brothers and the stabbing occurred.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he died during surgery. The 16-year-old and one associate were arrested at the scene.

It is unknown why the teen was attempting to get into the vehicle. Police recovered the weapon used in the stabbing.
